Tips on Proper Caring & Cleaning Your Gemstone Jewelry
OBSERVE PROPER CARE, PROPER HANDLING & PROPER STORING...
In general, you should never expose your gemstone jewelry to heat, chemicals & warm acids. Please do not wear your birthstone jewelry while doing household chores, while swimming or during any athletic activity.
Here are some helpful tips:
1. Never toss gemstone jewelry in the drawer or dresser after use. It can lead to scratches and chipped or fractured stone.
2. Avoid your jewelry from hitting hard surfaces.
3. Put your jewelry in a clean secure place like the pouch or box they came in with or in a jewelry box with separate sections to prevent them from scratching with each other.
4. Do not expose your set of jewelry to harsh chemicals like chlorine bleach and household cleaner which can pit gold alloy and damage your precious gemstone.
5. Store-bought jewelry cleaning solutions are mostly ammonia based. While it works well with precious metals, it can damage delicate gems like Aquamarine, Emerald, Peridot as well as porous gemstones like Agate, Amber, Aventurine, Carnelian, Coral, Pearl, Turquoise, Jade, Jasper, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Mother of Pearl, Opal, Onyx and Tiger Eye.
6. Use of toothbrush to clean jewelry is not advisable since it may scratch and damage other gemstones. Instead, use a clean makeup brush and warm soapy water.
7. Avoid direct contact of other chemicals like hair spray, lotion, perfume and makeup to your gemstone as it can damage and harm them.
By observing these proper use and care, your piece of precious investment is designed to last!
